Ensure objects are passed over RPC

We need a serializer for our objects. Nova has a similar one for their much more complex objects: https://github.com/openstack/nova/blob/master/nova/objects/base.py#L524. Once that is in place, the objects will pass over RPC without kmobu (the rabbitmq lib) implicitly serializing to JSON, which is where the unit vs real test differed
