[jesse-barker 2012-12-18] Development branch merged into trunk.

[jesse-barker 2012-12-10] Initial review was positive. Request was made to rebranch and reintegrate changes in order to avoid collisions from other development branches recently merged into trunk. This has now been done and is under review.

[jesse-barker 2012-12-04] Confirmation earlier today that this seems to work fine with radeon and intel drivers (alf tested the branch for me on his hardware as all I've got is nvidia). Merge request submitted, and code review under way.

[jesse-barker 2012-11-14]: Good progress on this, but there is apparently a bug in the nouveau driver (the only DRM stack available to me) that prevents proper on-screen results when using the default config selection.
