Freehand Tool Sketch Mode : Strokes That Can "Travel"

Problem: The sketch mode (ALT+draw) of the freehand tool has exciting potential, but currently isn't much like sketching. A sketch artist's lines "travel" along a contour. The current averaging method is incapable of doing this.

It makes sense to have this be a LPE (kind of a reverse-version of the current Sketch LPE), much like the Spiro mode works now. Perhaps call it "Chain Subpaths"?
