Bug #911007 doesn't seem to have anything useful for rpm itself, it looks mostly like apt-rpm issue.
And it is definitely out of interest for ROSA/Mandriva tasks (unless someone manages to reproduce it using urpmi which simply doesn't allow to run several instances in parallel).
re running in parallel and exclusive locking: an exclusive lock in urpmi that isn't
honored by other tools (like /bin/rpm itself) isn't really exclusive at all. there
are some legacy issues with the exclusive locking attempted by Mandriva as
well: its possible to have a lock hierarchy cascaded through rpm based tool chains
iff the lock acquisition/release is well ordered: the programming rules have never been described/attempted afaik (though I'm sure the "deadly embrace" issue is well known).
