Applications in main that initiate outbound network connections to servers should support native Kerberos authentication. These applications should be audited and have bugs filed against them. If the protocols use SASL, our work is done for us. If not, coordination with upstream should happen to make these applications authentication using Kerberos when available, and fall back to plain text authentication where available. Enhancement bugs should be filed against these packages and attached to this spec.
