Has there been a recent scrub to highlight the orphaned packages in Universe? It might be useful to make them visible and put them up for adoption? Failing that, possibly look at removing from the archive? (Not sure what the orphaned removal criteria should be for this, but it might be worth spelling it out?)

"What do I work on next?" People want to be part of a team, and we failed last cycle to have proper initiatives to fix packages. We need to regularly organize more global bug jams. OTOH, FTBFS jams are not quite accessible for new developers.
Right now, if you're not on IRC you're missing out of a large portion of MOTU culture. Things proceed much more slowly via other methods... That includes being online in the right timezones to work with people.
We need to be able to point people to projects and bugs that have impact. It might be useful to sort by popcon or other methods.
Finding easy bugs is hard, because if they were easy bugs they'd already be fixed. However, we don't need to make the experience flawless; we just need to get people there and working on them.

Advertise our cool stuff in universe.
For each datasource in Harvest, it should provide instructions on the genearl idea of how to fix this.
