Desktop search and tag/metadata database

Integration of tracker would provide the backbone for a fully integrated state of the art desktop. Tracker brings not only high performance desktop search with very low memory requirements but also makes the concept of first class objects a reality via its powerful and extensible metadata capability. Tracker is in the process of being integrated into several applicatons and is under proposal for inclusion in GNOME 2.18. Once integrated, it will provide desktop wide tagging, extensible metadata, common music/photo databases, contextual desktops and bring first class object technology into mainstream use.
